Pros And Cons Of Solar Energy

By: John Phelan

There is a lot to be said about the pros and cons of solar energy. I prefer to talk about the pros but I will mention one thing on the negative side that has soured the industry for the last few years.

A few years ago several complaints poured from home owners claiming they were promised something different from what they got for their solar panel investment. Solar power was supposed to be the end all, final solution to their growing electric bills and dependency on the states electricity in the state of California. Some of these ideals stemmed from the Enron scandal. People simply did not want to count on the state as the only source of electricity, so solar power companies came out from everywhere to rescue these souls. Unfortunately the panels were rushed out so quickly, they were poorly made thus producing poor results.

Additionally some companies cut cost on materials, for larger profit margins. Some homes were purchased with an added fee for the solar panel option. What they got purchased considerable unfavorable results. Indeed some clients stated they were a complete and total waste, just decoration on the roof. Companies continue to over promise what solar power can deliver at any given price point. It is not uncommon for claims that solar panels produce more electricity than they actually do. One good scam deserves another as the Enron scandal ended, this solar scam began, and under the radar for a time.

Be cautious when you make your solar panel purchase. Investigate the company you are considering doing business with by checking online at sites like ripoffreport or the better business bureau to see if there have been any complaints . Educate yourself on what solar energy can really do for your home. It is a good idea to find out how much solar power can be turned into electricity from solar panels. There are a few factors to determine this, such as size of the panels and the materials used to create them. Do some research on how photovoltaic panels convert solar energy. It is a good idea to find out how solar energy can be turned into stored power. Ask the representative questions over the phone and see what answers they provide. Take those answers and compare them with what you find on the internet. The easiest way to get scammed is when the company trying to sell you something knows more about the product than you do.
