Places Hadn’t Considered Using Cowskin Rugs in Your Home

By: Colin Chadwick

Cowskin rugs are becomingly more popular and sought after for use in home or office decorating themes. A myriad of options are available to aid in your particular decorating style or theme. A wide assortment of colours, shapes, and sizes can be purchased that will fit almost any space in a room.

Cowskin rugs from Brazil and Argentina are considered some of the best and softest, as the tanners have specialized methods for treating the skin. Many cowskin rugs can be functional, as well as decorative. Their shapes can range from “natural” to full-size, to smaller sizes, and the colour and pattern choices are vast as well. Cowskins can also be sewn together to present a patchwork of pieces in a multi-patterned work of art.

Common uses for cowskin rugs include covering large sections of flooring. They look glamorous while they are serving to protect the flooring underneath them. Mostly, they liven up a room with drama and flair. Other uses include hanging them on a wall, as they can make real conversation pieces as a work of art, as well as a floor covering. Some people like to drape large cowskin rugs over their bed as a bedspread, or top covering to their bedspread. Three other places you may not have considered using a cowskin rug include the following.

1. Thrown Over An Ottoman Or Foot Stool

A smaller-sized cowskin rug could make a good covering, as well as a decorative statement, thrown over an ottoman or foot stool. The soft cowskin would make a good extra seat when your house is full of company and all the chairs are taken, or it would also be soft for the bottoms of your heels if you are sitting in a chair with your feet stretched out, visiting or watching television.

2. In the Garden

Most people are going to think of indoor places to place their cowskin rugs, but, if you have garden furniture, they can also accommodate that setting nicely. The only thing you want to make sure of is that the cowskin doesn’t get excessively wet. You must ensure that the garden area is covered and a great amount of rain won’t blow in to soak the rug. If you live in a mostly sunny section of the country, where there is little rainfall, it would be even safer. Cowskin rugs are fairly easy to clean so that shouldn’t be a great concern.

3. In A Baby’s Room or Child’s Room

You might not immediately think of using a cowskin rug in a baby’s room or child’s room, but they can make lovely accessories, especially when decorating with a rustic or cowboy theme. Cowskin rugs can add softness and depth to your baby’s or child’s room. Your baby’s attention will no doubt be drawn to the aesthetically pleasing look of a cowskin rug in his/her room.

The places you can find to locate a cowskin rug in your home are about as limitless as your imagination. Take a look around; take some measurements; get the visual of the way you would like the room to look, and then set about finding the cowskin rug to suit your choices and preferences.
