NO shootouts bring back normal ties and overtime!

By: GarryHart

I don’t know what you think about shootouts, but I think they shouldn’t win a game at all. I think they should not be part of hockey at all. The reason the NHL does this is to keep the game shorter and to add excitement. However, I think if they play sudden death until someone scores, then who knows what excitement that will bring. If you play hard for 60 minutes, I think you should keep playing. Its just fair right?

What is really the big picture here is the fact that the NHL teams play 80 games in 8 months. That is a lot of hockey for a team and I could see why they want to help teams by any means. However, it not fair for playing your heart out for 60 minutes to see someone score on a break way to give the other team a point when clearly you played the game for 60 the right way. That is my take.
