MMA Fighting Giant Fedor Emelianenko

By: Phoenix Delray

Everyone who is a MMA fan has their favorite fighters, and many of them name Fedor Emelianenko as theirs. MMA is the Mixed Martial Arts arena of fighting that has few rules and safety guidelines, and actually originated as a quest to find the fighter who was best suited to win non armed combat encounters. Since the early days, it has evolved into one of the most intense and popular sporting organization events in the world.

Fedor Emelianenko is the current Heavyweight Champion of the World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts. He was born in 1976 on September 28 in the Ukraine of the former USSR. He has been considered as one of the top ultimate MMA fighters for years, and becoming the heavyweight champion only confirmed what his fans already knew: he was a fighter like none other. In the Mixed Martial Arts arena, he is affectionately known by his nickname that was given to him, which is The Last Emperor.

Fedors father was a worker in the steel mills near the hometown, and his mother was an elementary school teacher. Fedor Emelianenko has one older sister, and he has two brothers who also are fighters in Mixed Martial Arts. When the champion to be was still very young, he started getting involved in the world of fighting. He started out training in the fighting arts of Sambo and judo. By the time he was 10 years old, Fedor Emelianenko was working his way steadily up to becoming a master of both of those sports, even though apparently he had been very small as a child. He had never been considered as a big boy or a tough guy. Despite the small stature that he endured as a child, he now weighs 235 pounds and stands more than six feet tall.

Fedor Emelianenko graduated from his high school in 1991 and enrolled in a professional trade school, where he was an honors student and an honors graduate in 1994. From 1995 to 1997, Fedor Emelianenko was a soldier in the Russian Army, where he held his position as a military firefighter. While he was in the army, he continued his training with Sambo, even though his only workout area was a makeshift gym that he had put together himself while he served.

The time came that he finished his assignment with the army, and two years after he left Fedor Emelianenko married his girlfriend, Oksana. They reportedly had been sweethearts for years. A few months after they were married, their first child, a daughter named Masha, was born. In 2006, his marriage to his wife ended and he began a family with his girlfriend, Marina, and another daughter was born.

Since he began his career with MMA in 2000, he has won the prestige and honor that comes along with the many awards that he has collected and credited to his name. Before that, he had already made a name for himself with awards in other organizations and sporting events. In 1997, Fedor Emelianenko was honored when he had earned the official certification of a Master of Sports in Judo and Sambo. The following year, Fedor Emelianenko earned the bronze medal in the Russian Judo Championship.
