Does The Government Really Give Out Money To People

By: Charles Cruz

The subject that will be discussed in this article is government grants, who gets what and why. This is a very complex subject, like everything our government does, because all the grants and benefits our authorities manage they have to think about everybody for the greater good.

The majority of the funds assigned by the government to use as grants or benefits are given to non profit organizations, state and local government agencies, for a variety of purposes, which range from simple and precise objectives such as weatherizing all of the buildings in the nation, to more complex issues as health care and insurance related issues.

There are also funds set aside in the federal budget and also in most states. This is meant to help regular Joes, such as my self , from going under on unusual circumstances like a job losses, victims of a disaster, having a family member with a disability or just a good old fashion sense of improving your self by completing your education and becoming something better of what you are now.

Funds set aside for assisting individuals, who meet the specific criteria for each of these helpful programs, just got a boost from the stimulus package set forth by the Obama administration, and approved by the legislative body of our government. The bill signed into law in February 2009 has billions of dollars intended for individual citizens such as yourself. Like the refundable credit from the Federal Treasury for individuals for $400.00 and double for couples. There is a lot of money intended to help people who are in need in this hard time, this is for them to get basic supplies such as food, get better education and help with their mortgage.

Conventional grants come in the form of tax subsidies to families and businesses. Sometimes they are created with the aim of encouraging some type of economic activity within certain area, for example, silicon valley has very lax tax regulation for the technology industry so it can maintain a certain economic level. The extent of benefits that a business may receive can vary, based on the business profile, growth plans and successes in their current, new or expanded locations.

The same goes for individual citizens, with the programs design for them. So the type of help that you might be eligible for ultimately depends on the area you live, and your social status.
