MORE POWER TO AUDIO-VISUAL PROGRAMS

The developments in computer programs are so fast that earlier versions not even half a decade old are rendered obsolete with new enhancements being launched year after year. ActionScript is one such scripting language that has been enhanced several times over with the most recent one being the ActionScript 3.0 version. This scripting language is used in the development of websites and other software mostly web-based games, in the Adobe Flash Player Platform. This used to be under the Macromedia Flash banner but is now under the ownership of Adobe since its acquisition of Macromedia in the year 2005. The earlier versions of ActionScript only attached simple commands for basic navigation controls to buttons and frames. This scripting language eventually became more complex to include not only simple 2D vector animations but other variables, expressions, and other sets of commands.

ActionScript 3.0 has been included in Flash Player 9 in 2006 in a restructured language using an entirely different virtual machine. In Flash Player 9, ActionScript 3.0 written content are used in the AVM2 virtual machine. Earlier versions ActionScript 1.0 and 2.0 are read by the AVM1 virtual machine in Flash Player 1. There is limited hardware acceleration support in ActionScript 3.0. The added functionalities in this new version of the ActionScript scripting language has played a big role in the development and creation of visually complex and near-real life quality computer generated images in web-based games and those applications with live video and audio streaming. As the development of more programs and platforms continue, there is so much room for the creativity of computer graphics and animators as well as web designers and game programmers to shine through.
